Immediate Priorities for the Post. COVID-19 World

Most businesses have been forced to respond to COVID19 by reacting and adapting, instead of planning and transforming. Change was involuntary and gaps, or redundancies, have been exposed. Some businesses may never recover from this crisis. Others will get stronger. What we have learned from prior crises is that a) “back to normal”  will not be “normal” as we now know it and b) those that prepare, plan and invest in what the future will look like will thrive after the crisis. Will your business try to live in the past? Or will it adapt and drive the future? Nepanoa’s mission is to accompany international businesses through their most important transformation endeavors in the United States and Latin America. The occurrence of a global, critical and unexpected event like COVID19 gives us the opportunity to fulfill our mission. The purpose of this document is to share our perspective on the immediate priorities for the post-COVID19 world and how Nepanoa can help you address them.  The contents of this document are: 1. Business Management 2. People 3. Technology 4. Nepanoa can help

Business Management

If liquidity, risk exposure and spend were not among the first items on every leaders’ agenda pre-COVID19, now they will be. This does not mean that there won’t be investments or focus on growth, but ensuring business continuity and reducing inefficiencies will be a priority before playing offense for most.

COVID19 accelerated the timeline for businesses that avoided some of the basic aspects of the future of work. Companies may try to play catch-up and believe that a simple technology upgrade will fill the gaps that have been exposed. Nothing could be further from reality. It will be imperative for businesses to guide their employees through change, as transformations mostly fail because people are unable to adapt to the new ways of working.

Technology

COVID19 is the worst nightmare for most IT teams, but there is a silver lining. If anything, COVID19 expedited the digital transformation of most businesses. It helped turn stubborn leaders into avid fans and afraid employees into digital champions. Businesses should not waste the lessons learned and the opportunity to continue its digital transformation. Unfortunately, many businesses will make the mistake of attempting to go back to the old ways without realizing how far behind they may fall versus their competitors.
